The best hotels and restaurants depend on what you are looking for, so here we offer some suggestions, and we limit the choices to no more than five for each category.
What you are looking for?
You want a hotel with a swimming pool, preferably right on the beach, and you want to be able to walk to shops and restaurants nearby. You expect to pay between 100-300 US per night
Secluded and exclusive—Just Married?
You don't really want to be bothered much with the world beyond a lovely beach in a tropical setting. You are prepared to pay for luxury and superb service for you and the adorable other.
You want to see and be seen in a lively crowd, and you want lots of nightlife. You don't care if it's a village or a city as long as the beach is great. 50-150 US seems about right, but you will have to pay much more if you want the pool villas.
Small is beautiful, so forget about all those places with hundreds of rooms and go for something different; something a little funky perhaps, but nice—why not?
They say Phuket is a rich man's playground, and so it is. You won't get much on Phuket for less than 15 US per night, but in the 25 to 50 US/night category, there is plenty to be found.
